MABLETHORPE is gearing up for a day of fun-packed activities this Sunday July 20 with three big events
First up at 7am is a giant car boot sale on Tennyson High School fields followed by the popular Mablethorpe district show from 10am.

Last year’s show was cancelled due to bad weather so this year organisers the Rotary Club of Alford and MablethoADVERTISEMENTrpe have pulled out all the stops with a variety of things to do and see.

These include an eagle and vulture show, a display of classic and performance cars, and demonstrations by various local groups including the emergency services and the Shotokan Karate club.

Then at 11am the annual Emma-Jayne Memorial Fund bikathon sets off from The Royal Oak at Little Cawthorpe with cyclists from Mablethorpe and as afield as London and York set to ride and raise money for the charity. Set to compete this year is the Louth town mayor Fran Treanor, Louth Police cadets and Kevin Morris, neurosurgeon at Hull Royal Infirmary with his family. The race will be followed by a barbeque and refreshments.

Celebrity guests Keith Harris and Orville will then be visiting the town at the illuminations ceremony which is set to start with entertainment from 7.30pm, with the switch-on at around 9.30pm followed by a firework display.

Mablethorpe Beach is an ideal family destination with plenty to see and do. There are various seaside activities including the new water play area in Queens Park, sailing and paddle boating, plus, on the promenade there is a traditional funfair and a crazy golf course.

Nearby are stalls selling local produce and souvenirs. Safety is assured, with lifeguards attending the beach and sufficient access for prams and wheelchairs. There is a selection of cafes and food outlets lining Mablethorpe beach.
